2018 Classes

Classes meet Monday through Thursday for 75 minutes.

Narnia and Middle Earth:  Reverend Dr. Stephen Holdzkom

The "secondary worlds" created by C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien-Narnia and Middle Earth-can be places in which today's believer can meet and experience God-in-Christ. In this class we will look together at the power of these stories to deepen us spiritually.

Choir School Bell Ringing:  Tim Cunningham

This is a class for advanced ringers or strong music readers.  In upper bells, (Octave 6 and higher) you should be able to four-in-hand ring.  Prefer experienced ringers or some bell experience.  The class will need at least 12 ringers and we expect to perform sometime during the week.

The Biblical Book of Ruth; gracious abundance in the midst of adversity:  Kim LaRue

In the short little book of Ruth we see the foreshadowing of Jesus' message and ministry.  It helps us think about how we can offer hospitality to the stranger and show care for those around us even when our lives are not perfect or secure.

Water Aerobics:  Jerilyn Ransom

Water aerobics is a fun fitness pool exercise for all ages.  It allows exercise while placing very little weight on joints. It is low impact and varies in intensity.

EFCS Show Choir:    Brady Brennan, Deborah Chow and Jacob Newland

This class is for singers and dancers of all ages and abilities! We will join during class time for a fast-paced class that focuses on musical selections from the movie "The Greatest Showman." Our set list will include an opening number, ballad, and big closer. For our Thursday Night Live Performance be prepared with a solid red, white, and gray t-shirt as well as khaki shorts, skirt, or pants. If you would like to get a head start on the musical selections, the titles we will be singing are: "This is Me" "A Million Dreams" and "The Greatest Show".

Understanding Personal Motivation:  John McClain

In this class, we will discover what makes us do what we do. Equally important, we will discover what makes others do what they do.  In a world that seems to be flooded with hate, criticism, and violence, at times, it is invaluable to possess human  understanding.  We will discuss what motivates us in today's culture - the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Using "The Enneagram" personality inventory, we will focus on human motivation and gain an "organized" understanding in order to promote a more peaceful and accepting world.

Holy Yoga:    Jamie Wilkerson

This class is designed to burn calories, tone muscles, build strength and vitality. It is a total mind-body-spirit workout which will combine strengthening and stretching postures, deep breathing techniques and scripture meditation. Holy Yoga is the intentional practice of connecting our entire being: body, mind and spirit with God. The sole purpose of this class is to facilitate a Christ honoring experience that offers an opportunity to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship, and wellness.    If you have a yoga mat, strap or other props please bring them.

There's little time for much else outside of singing, worship and fellowship. But one little space we carve out during the week are for classes lead by EFCS members. Classes are meant to be fun, engaging ways to connect with others and give your voice a much needed break.
